Updated Digital Collections Digital Collections is an archive system sold in the U.S. by Gannett Media Technologies International (www.gmti.com). This system is a unix-based system that works many different flavors of unix, including HP-UX, Solaris, AIX, and Linux. The current version of Digital Collections is called DC-4, and it uses an Oracle database and can store many different types of assets. The previous system is called DC-3 and is based on indexed files that reside in directories, and it can handle text and JPEG images. We use DC-3 on Red Hat Linux 6.2, although we previously used HP-UX. We made the switch to increase our hardware performance and to save costs at the same time. The Digital Collections system (DC-3) has Mac and Windows clients. The DC-4 system is browser-based.
